T.A.P Study Challenge #11: Master Studies

Unread postby Nines » Mon Feb 08, 2016 1:10 pm

For this study challenge, you will do a master study. This study challenge can be done either digitally in any software of your choice or traditionally, provided you can either scan or take a photo of your studies for posting in the finals thread.

For this challenge you must do:
- one master study. Pick a traditional painting that interests you (preferably an old one) and study the way it was composed.

For those of you who feel you would like to do more, we have an optional Extra Mile challenge of Painting an additional master study.

Tip: Pick masterpieces with different kinds of composition, mood, light etc.

Have fun!

Rules and Guidelines:
-This is a 2 week challenge.
-The additional Extra Mile part of the challenge is optional.
-Please try and keep all your studies on one to two pages if possible.
-If you want to share your progress, please post them in this thread.
-Final submissions should be posted in a new "Finals" thread.
-Due before Sam’s stream Monday February 22nd.
-Please keep the images under 1000 pixels wide and tall, respectively.

First post! Woohoo!
This is "Lesendes Mädchen" from Friedrich von Amerling.
I tried to keep it loose and used a big brush. Although I used a smaller one here and there.

And another one.
I still have much to learn, but I had fun drawing and it doesn't look that bad.

Painting is from Albert Bierstadt. No, not Bob Ross. ;)

Forced myself to only use a paint brush to try this out! It had a lot of values and detail I tried to get down as well as not focusing on detailing every little thing but focusing on the big picture ;-;
and tons of different hings in this, stone, cloth, metal. so much xD

So here's my study of Napoleon Crossing the Alps by Jacques Louis David!
