Almostimproving's sketchbook

Unread postby almostimproving » Wed Jul 08, 2015 7:09 pm

This is where I will be posting sketches and wip's,

Starting with one of my first tries to do something a bit more complex, Several characters, working mainly from my imagination. I was listening to 'two steps from hell - United we stand, divided we fall', so I guess that's what inspired this.
It's not very original but I consider this more of a test to see if I can finish it and how far I can push it, it will probably take some time before it's done since I'm working on it in between studies and other small personal projects.

Thank you, I am still working now and then. It's come a little further a long, but I basically only work on it a little before I go to bed after I ahve done some studies and stuff, more to relax than anything. Hopefully I finish it in not to long, if it will be any good is another question OSsloth

I think i will dedicate some time into not doing studies but finding workprogress works for me, sketch, or paint first, and also work on edges. There is so much to learn when it comes to technique alone, but i'll get there OSsloth Did this thingy today, I love the opening of the prince of egypt, great song.

Started playing the game 'Lisa', a fun but very dark indiegame. Then I started working on a picture of the main character brad armstrong, I figured it would give me a chance to try some different things that I'm trying to experiment with at the moment. I Will have another look when i get up tommorow and I will probably notice all the misstakes then OSsloth

looking back at that previous brad picture I don't like it at all, so i scrapped it. I Started working on a thundercats picture yesterday, It's not done yet but it was fun and relaxing to work with it, I have been working more with fullbody stuff but those are not so very good yet, long way to go and much to learn :)

Nice start! Make sure to have the lighting that is on his face carry across the rest of the figure too. Mostly on his chest area. It should be catching some of that light! And you I think if you added a strong second light source coming from the other side, it would really pop. Rims lights for the win hehe.

Just my two cents. Keep on grinding, dude! :)

Baconboltz, thank you : )

Bigmisch, yeah fair point, I think I need to study planes and light in general. I did add some more light going onto the armor and lower body. I think I will take some time and do a still live study now :) The grinding will go on OSsloth

Gorgeous work, AlmostImproving. I love the balance between realism and stylisation that your pieces have. And amazing potential with those illustrations. Can't wait to see more from you

thank you very much, I hope to extract that potential with a couple of more years of painting, slow and steady OSsloth

I drew a thing. I like to give myself a timelimit sometimes and see what I can accomplish. I decided to see if I could draw Ciri from the witcher (some day ill give myself time to play those games) in 30 minutes but it ended up being closer to 40 in the end OSsloth I like the sloth emote way to much.

I'm seriously bad at posting things, I will try to improve on that but I find that most often my studies aren't really interesting for others to look at :) Here are some random paintings, a furiosa picture and a post apocalyptic picture of a girl leaving shelter to go outside in the world for the first time!
